Batavia, Ohio
Batavia, the county seat of Clermont County, was settled in 1797 by Ezekiel Dimmitt who had his home built where the current post office stands today on Main Street. The Village of Batavia and Batavia Township are located along Ohio State Route 32 and are about 30 minutes from Downtown Cincinnati. The village of Batavia is a small town with approximately 1,500 residents while Batavia Township's population is much higher at roughly 23,000 people.
The University of Cincinnati Clermont College and Cincinnati East have established branches of the University of Cincinnati in Batavia, Ohio. Also, the Batavia Local School District serves the village of Batavia and Batavia Township.
Batavia also has an airport for use known as the Clermont County Airport and is located off of Clough Pike.
Batavia Township has a walking trail which is upgrading in the Fall of 2015 with . The walking trail is free to the public.
East Fork Park is located in Batavia Township and is only minutes from the village of Batavia or any where in Batavia Township. East Fork State Park offers boating, fishing, walking trails, picnicking, camping, swimming, hunting, winter recreation such as sledding, ice skating, ice fishing, cross country skiing and much more.
Sycamore Park is located in the Village of Batavia off of State Route 132. The park contains 158 acres with picnic tables and shelters for parties and picnics, playgrounds for kids, hiking and walking trails, tennis courts, volleyball courts and lots of fun!
The Hike Bike Trail from Williamsburg to Batavia is also located in Batavia Township and once completed, it will stretch 13 miles from the village of Williamsburg to the village of Batavia.
